TAA, Rules and Abundance

Perhaps one of the toughest jobs (seriously) yet frowned upon as a minimum wage position, although its not.

This one time, I was catching a flight home to Mwanza. If you know Rock City, you know what goes down during holidays.

And it was going to be a damn good time.

Sunny skies.

Old friends.

The lake, of course.

But, what caught my eye and attention on that cold JNIA morning was not how excited I was about getting back home.

Nor, the lake, friends, weather…

It was the TAA - Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority.

Perhaps one of the toughest jobs (seriously) yet frowned upon as a minimum wage position, although its not. As I was gathering my bags through security, there was this Indian family ahead of me and they were having a tough time.

Bickering, forgetting to take out their laptops, and more.

So, the TAA decided it was about time to check their bags and see what was going on in their bags.

Have any guesses?

The infamous b-word that you just don’t say at the airport?

Nah.

Fresh produce.

Lemons, berries, and random veggies.

That’s all fun & games, but then I glanced over at the TAA team leader’s watch.

It was 9:06.

My flight boards at 9, leaves at 9:30.

Its safe to say, I’m tweaking.

Another 5 minutes passes, I’m urging the TAA guards to not follow the rules and just let me go finally.

Nope.

They’re not having it.

Forget the mumbo jumbo law of attraction BS, I see my stuff coming out of the X-ray machine, quickly gather my wallet, phone, jewellery and get to running to the gate.

Walk in, just in time, ......, without a worry in the world.

A big ol’ whew was let out.

Here’s the thing:

If I’d approached this situation with abundance, I wouldn’t have even gotten stressed out. Just grabbed another flight later in the day, spend the day vibing.

What’s so bad about that?

Maybe a few thousand shillings and an extra few hours at Julius Nyerere.

But, because I was operating with the slightest bit of scarcity, it was a matter of life or death.

Causing unnecessary stress and worry.

This applies to business as well.

Even more so than “regular” life.

Because if you’re not operating in abundance, chances are you’re not only missing out a greater life, but also not earning as much income as you should be.
